Spicy Coleslaw

A spicy coleslaw is great to serve at chili cookoffs or if you are looking for tailgating ideas. Whether you are serving hot dogs, hamburgers or chili a spicy recipe of coleslaw is a perfect addition. You can even eat it on a low carb diet.



What To Serve With Chili?

For a nice change and different flavor try a coleslaw that is spicy. You can serve this coleslaw at any party. Coleslaw, bell peppers and jalapenos are full of vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients

1 bag shredded cabbage

1 red bell pepper cut into thin slices (optional)

1 diced jalapeno (optional)

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 T lemon juice

1 tsp brown mustard

1/2 tsp plus 1/4 tsp chili powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/8 tsp cumin

1/8 to 1/4 tsp cayenne

Directions

Combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, brown mustard, chili powder, salt, cumin, cayenne. Blend thoroughly. Pour over coleslaw. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.


Have It Your Way, Every Way

1. Use broccoli slaw or half cabbage and half broccoli - healthier with the additional and different vitamins from the broccoli

2. Add more bell pepper - red and yellow

3. Make the coleslaw more spicy with the jalapeno or more cayenne or substitute other types of chili peppers.

4. If you are following a low carb diet make sure your mayonnaise has no added sugar.
